DOCUMENTARY: Hong Kong Dog Rescue

Hong Kong Dog Rescue, is a grassroots rescue organization begun by Sally Andersen in 2003 to save perfectly lovable and home-able dogs that would otherwise be slaughtered.

Even still, 25,000 dogs are slaughtered each year according to the SPCA. Pet ownership being a relatively new, Western influence on Chinese society, the Hong Kong Agricultural, Fisheries and Conservation Department does precious little to educate pet owners about the responsibility and commitment of pet ownership and consequently, many perfectly wonderful animals are surrendered daily because they grow too big, or require expensive medical treatment.

Sally and her dedicated volunteers work tirelessly to home as many dogs as possible and to raise awareness about these forgotten, innocent animals.

Most of these photographs were part of a successful exhibit that helped raise funds for Hong Kong Dog Rescue.
